Each womb transplant costs approx £25,000

Egg extraction

Mother to be has eggs extracted and fertilised.

Womb transplant

The donor womb is transplanted into the recipient who starts a course of
immunosuppressants.

Embryo’s implant

Once the womb is secure embryos are implanted and baby is eventually born by
Caesarean section.

Womb removal

Womb later removed so recipient can stop taking immunosuppressant drugs.
